Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 5 as McMaster welcomes our campus community to a memorable and exciting Homecoming! The McMaster Students Union (MSU) and Student Affairs are reintroducing a day of Homecoming events aimed primarily at students as a welcome back to campus.

“We are excited to collaborate with the McMaster Students Union to host a full day of events dedicated to fostering campus community and connection,” says Sean Van Koughnett, associate vice-president, students and learning, and dean of students. “Bringing Homecoming back to campus after several years is an opportunity to make this event an integral part of the McMaster student experience.”

As is annual tradition, McMaster is pleased to welcome members of the campus community to the annual Homecoming football game, where the McMaster Marauders will take on the Western Mustangs. Alumni and members of the public can purchase tickets here, and students can register to attend the game for free.

In addition to the game, current students can enjoy new and exciting events to kick off the fall term.

Events for students

This year, the MSU and McMaster Student Affairs are pleased to host additional events for students on October 5.

Monster, the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course, will be open throughout the day for students who present their photo ID. Keeping the fun times rolling, a foam party will start at 3 p.m. and run until 6 p.m. in 10 acre field. Other events include Drag Storytime, stilt walkers, face painters and even magicians!

The day will culminate with an exciting evening concert featuring Canadian-born dance music duo Loud Luxury and American rapper, singer-songwriter and producer Lil Tecca. The MSU is presenting this evening concert for students on the field in front of the John Hodgins Engineering (JHE) building.

“It was a major priority for me in each of my election campaigns to revitalize our campus culture and restore the sense of belonging that students value,” says Jovan Popovic, MSU president and CEO.

“Bringing back Homecoming is more than just an event; it’s a way to reclaim what we lost during the pandemic and rebuild a campus culture that’s essential for student success. I’m incredibly excited to be paving way for the return of McMaster’s largest event of 2024.”
