In times of uncertainty, we want our community to know you are not alone. If global events are affecting your well-being, or you need travel guidance, McMaster has support and resources available.

“We know it’s very difficult for students, faculty and staff when they are faced with the realities of unrest abroad, particularly if they have loved ones there or any other connection,” said Sean Van Koughnett, Associate Vice-President, Students.

“These ongoing challenges in the world remind us that McMaster is comprised of many communities that need our support. There are resources on our campus that are available to everyone, no matter the challenge.”

If you need support, the Resources for the McMaster Community page is a starting point, including links to:

  • Immediate safety support: Campus Safety Services and emergency guidance (call 9-1-1 in an emergency)
  • Well-being and academic supports: Student Wellness Centre, Student Case Management, Accessibility, Academic Advising
  • Workplace supports: Employee and Family Assistance Program (24/7)

If you are travelling or planning international activity, the Informed Travel hub offers practical guidance, including:

  • Registering with HX Global for 24/7 travel risk and emergency support
  • Checking Government of Canada travel advice/advisories (risk levels, entry/exit requirements)
  • University guidance for sanctioned travel, research activity, and cybersecurity tips

“Global engagement calls for care and thoughtful planning,” said Bonny Ibhawoh, Vice-Provost (International Affairs).

“Whether travelling for study, co-op placements, research or collaboration, we should strive to stay informed, act safely, and care for one another across borders.”
