There will be no fall sport season for McMaster’s Marauders this year, after a decision by Ontario University Athletics has cancelled all programming and championships up to December 31 to ensure the safety of participants during the COVID-19 pandemic. Other regional and national university sports organizations have made similar decisions.

“It is the right thing to do and the best decision for the safety and well-being of student athletes, coaches and fans, but that doesn’t make it any easier for all of us who look forward to the fall season of university sports,” said McMaster’s director of athletics, Shawn Burt.

“I am the Director of Athletics at McMaster, but I am also a massive fan of all our teams and my heart goes out to each and every Marauder student-athlete as we navigate the unprecedented times.”

McMaster sponsors 39 varsity teams across more than 20 sports, all of which are affected by the cancellation.
