Recent McMaster graduate Mackenzie Barwell is living out her Olympic dream — from the broadcasting booth as a digital host for CBC’s #MilanoCortina2026 coverage. 
 
“It’s been surreal, just stepping into that digital studio for the first time,” says Barwell. “It’s so rewarding and exciting.”

The sportscaster, whose earliest gigs include working as a @mcmastersports in-game host, shares how hard work and seizing opportunities is now putting her in rooms with people she has looked up to since childhood.

Chancellor Emeritus L.R. “Red” Wilson, a dedicated champion of our students, a visionary leader and beloved member of our community has died at the age of 85.

Wilson was a game-changing presence on our campus for more than four decades — as an undergraduate student, a member of the Board of Governors, a two-term Chancellor and as one of the university’s most generous donors.

“We have lost a McMaster icon, an exceptional Canadian and just a magnificent person,” said McMaster President and Vice-Chancellor Susan Tighe. 


Wilson will be remembered for his deep commitment to our students, and his transformative vision of inspiring a new generation of leaders.
