Six McMaster researchers were honoured at the Royal Society of Canada’s (RSC) Celebration of Excellence & Engagement (COEE) for their contributions to research, scholarship and Canadian life.
The celebration, held this month at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, 104 new RSC fellows and 56 new members of the RSC College.
Judah Denburg and Hendrik Poinar were inducted as Fellows – a distinction conferred on Canadians from all branches of learning who have made remarkable contributions to Canadian public life, as well as the arts, the humanities or the sciences.
Nathan Andrews, Michelle Kho and Matthew Miller were inducted into the RSC’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists, a recognition of mid-career leaders who are helping Canada and the world address major challenges and seize new opportunities.
Deborah Cook was awarded the Royal Society’s McLaughlin Medal, which recognizes important research of sustained excellence in medical sciences.
Newly named fellows Louis Schmidt and Barry Hill, as well as new College member Hsien Seow, will be officially inducted at next year’s ceremony.
