An application was made on June 12 to demolish the vacant building at 606 Aberdeen Ave. The building was acquired in 2019 through a land exchange agreement with Metrolinx.
The decision follows ongoing consideration of the future of the vacant industrial building, said Gailene Tobin Vandenheuvel, CEO of McMaster Innovation Park.
“We are committed to working collaboratively with the City of Hamilton through the applicable approval processes, as we believe this approach reflects the interests of the community,” she said.
Measures have been in place to restrict access to the property, including boarded entry points, perimeter integrity, signage and security patrols. The property has followed the City of Hamilton’s requirements for vacant properties.
The demolition process will proceed through the appropriate municipal approval process.
