McMaster University’s 10 Bay residence has been recognized with an ARIDO (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario) award for its thoughtful, community-centred design.
The “Live Together” category award celebrates outstanding design in shared spaces that encourage resident interaction and build community.
“We really wanted 10 Bay to be more than just a place to live, but a space where students can thrive socially, personally, and academically,” says Kevin Beatty, director of Housing and Conference Services.
“It was designed very deliberately to offer spaces where students can connect, including the inviting lobby, the gym, arcade, music and movie rooms, creative spaces, and dedicated study areas”
The awards also emphasize equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion, all key considerations in 10 Bay’s design.
“Winning the ARIDO Award for 10 Bay reflects McMaster’s commitment to creating spaces where students feel connected and supported,” says Saher Fazilat, vice-president, Operations and Finance.
“I’m incredibly proud of what this residence brings to our student community and to our city.”
