McMaster University has appointed Arlene Fajutrao Dosen as Associate Vice-President, Alumni Engagement.

Fajutrao Dosen brings more than 30 years of leadership experience at McMaster, with roles spanning Student Affairs, University Advancement, the School of Graduate Studies and the Faculty of Engineering.

As AVP of Alumni Engagement, she will lead efforts to deepen engagement with McMaster’s global alumni community of more than 200,000 graduates in over 140 countries, while supporting the university’s academic and research priorities.

“Arlene has an exceptional ability to connect people to purpose,” said Lili Litwin, vice-president, University Advancement. “Her passion for the McMaster community will be invaluable as we continue to grow and strengthen relationships with alumni around the world.”

Fajutrao Dosen currently serves as assistant dean and executive director, Student Success in Student Affairs.

A three-time McMaster graduate, Fajutrao Dosen holds degrees in Arts and Science, Labour Studies, and Work and Society, as well as a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Western University.

She is an elected member of McMaster’s Board of Governors, serves on Senate, and contributes to the university’s current strategic planning initiative, Setting the Course.

“Learning is a lifelong journey,” said Fajutrao Dosen. “I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place and creating meaningful opportunities for our graduates to connect, contribute and make an impact.”

In the role, she will work closely with faculties, partners, and the McMaster Alumni Association to deepen alumni programs that foster pride, belonging and lifelong engagement.

The search for a successful candidate included extensive recruitment and a selection committee comprising a diverse group of university leaders and a senior volunteer from the McMaster Alumni Association.

The McMaster community also extends its sincere appreciation to Karen McQuigge for her 28 years of dedicated leadership as Director, Alumni Engagement.

Throughout her tenure, McQuigge has played a pivotal role in strengthening alumni programs, advancing volunteer leadership, and deepening engagement across the university and in our global alumni community.

McQuigge will retire effective Oct. 1, 2026, with her final day in the office on June 30, 2026.
