Please keep safety and respect for the community and our neighbours top of mind as you celebrate Halloween.

McMaster is reminding students to keep safety and respect for the community and our neighbours top of mind this Halloween weekend.

The university will be working with Hamilton Police and city bylaw officers to make sure the neighbourhoods around our campus stay safe and peaceful around Halloween.

Please, do your part for our community: keep your gatherings small, turn down the volume and be a good neighbour.

Be aware that violating bylaws and laws for activities such as hosting large gathering, for example, could face significant charges and fines ($750) under the Reopening Ontario Act and could also be sanctioned under McMaster’s Student Code of Rights and Responsibilities.

McMaster students living on campus and offsite can help keep their community safe by following these tips:

  • Respect your neighbours
  • Keep gatherings small
  • Remember COVID safety rules, such as distancing and masking
  • Keep the volume down
  • Be considerate, patient and kind
  • Be compassionate to the health concerns of others and the pressure that Hamilton hospitals and healthcare workers are working under as they take care of COVID and other patients.
